Daniel 3:17, 18 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. (18) But if not , be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

All over the world today people are being persecuted for their faith. Thousands were beaten, tortured, raped, beheaded, buried alive, and even crucified at the hands of the enemies of God in 2014. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were threatened with the torturous death of the fiery furnace they did not waver in their faith in God. They declared that God was able to deliver them but if He chose not to deliver them they still would not deny their faith. They were willing to die for their faith in God. God did deliver them, but many, like the Apostle John, the Apostle Paul, and even Jesus Himself died in their faith. In the United States of America we have avoided the kinds of persecution that has taken place all over the world but it looks like our religious freedom is coming to an end. Secular humanists, atheists, and followers of false Gods are changing the face of America and robbing us of our long held freedoms. Are you ready to die for your faith? That’s a good thing to consider as we start a new year. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego we must have a made up mind about our faith and be willing to die for it if necessary. May we all be so sold out to God that we will die for our faith if necessary.
