Psalm 120:1 In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and He heard me.
As soon as children are old enough to understand, we teach them how to dial 911. They’re told that the 911 operator will get them help in their time of trouble. They’ll send an ambulance for medical emergencies, a police officer for criminal activity, or a wrecker if the car is broke down. 911 is a good thing to know but it would be much more beneficial to everyone concerned if we would teach them how to get ahold of God first. God should be our first response to every problem, no matter how big or how small. He stands at the ready to help those who call upon Him. The Lord delights in meeting the needs of His children. He combs the whole earth looking for those whose hearts are turned toward Him so that He can show Himself mighty on their behalf. The next time you find yourself in great distress, make Jesus your first call. May we call out to God and watch Him do great and mighty things in our lives is my prayer.
