Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are His delight.

When I was about 15 years old my friends and I got caught doing something really stupid. It was bad enough that I had done something wrong but to compound the situation, when my Dad questioned me about it, I lied to him. The problem with lying to my Dad was that he was a criminal detective and was trained in interrogation. He soon identified that I was lying and believe me when I tell you that I got in a lot more trouble for lying than for the stupid thing I had done. The Bible declares that lying is an abomination to God. It’s even listed as one of the so called “seven deadly sins”. But the Bible also says that God delights in truth. It is true that telling the truth can be hard some times. There may be retribution for telling the truth or someone may be offended by the truth but just remember that God delights in the truth. What better thing could happen in our lives than to make our heavenly Father happy? May we be speakers of truth is my prayer.
