Romans 13:1-3 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. (2)Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. (3)For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same.
With all the rioting, luting, vandalism, and destruction that is currently taking place in our country there needs to be a re-education of America and it needs to start with God’s Word. I keep hearing about how people are afraid of the police when they’re doing nothing wrong. The Bible says that our leaders are ordained of God and that there is no reason to fear them unless we are doing wrong. Maybe that’s the real issue; we don’t know the difference between right and wrong anymore. When we choose to break the law and live in a way that is contrary to the law our lifestyle puts us in direct opposition to those who are charged with executing the law. Instead of expecting our citizens to rise to the level of the law some states have begun to lower the standards of the law to meet the lower standards of it’s citizens. This trend will only weaken our country and alienate God from us. It’s time for us as the people of God to declare that our standards should be measured against God’s Word and our people must be challenged to rise to God’s standard. May we arise to Godly living is my prayer.
