Matthew 2:13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word; for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

From the moment Jesus was born the world has sought to kill Him. Herod’s decree to kill all the male children under 2 was only the beginning of what has been over 2,000 years of attempts to kill Jesus. The Romans thought they killed him but there crucifiction of Christ only proved to be His greatest victory as He arose from the grave to save the world from our sins. Adolf Hitler tried to annihilate the Jewish people but was unsuccessful and today Iran threatens the same thing. In the end, all the nations of the world will align themselves against Christ in a last attempt to kill Him but will be defeated by His Word and He will rule forever. As we celebrate His birth, let us also defend His name by living holy and righteous in an unholy world. May we not be guilty of killing Jesus by denying the power of His Gospel to change our lives is my prayer.
