Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
After a long dusty journey all Joseph and Mary needed was a room in the local hotel but there was none to be found. If the Inn keeper would have been looking for the Messiah his spirit would have been quickened to the fact that this was Jesus and he surely would have given them his own room. This wasn’t the case however and he simply gave them the opportunity to sleep in the barn. If we’re not careful we can be just like this innkeeper. Giving God what’s available may not be what He needs. Sometimes to do the will of God it takes sacrifice; it takes making room in the inn not just offering Him the barn. May we all make room in our lives for Jesus is my prayer.
