Matthew 12:36, 37 But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. (37) For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Words are powerful, so powerful that God keeps track of every one we say. Even our idle words are counted worthy of tracking. Jesus connected the words we say to what’s in our hearts when He said, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh”. Very simply put, what we put in our hearts through what we listen to, read, and see is what’s going to come out of our mouth. Since words are so powerful we must be careful in choosing what we say. Some of our thoughts need to be just that, thoughts, and should not be spoken. Some things we might be afraid to speak need to be spoken and God can give us the boldness to speak them. By listening to and falling the leading of the Holy Spirit our words can edify others and bring glory to God. May we choose our words wisely is my prayer.
