Genesis 15:6
Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.
Religion is always putting some kind of requirement on us to perform in order to be right with God, such as: pray a certain prayer, go to a certain place, do a certain deed, or dress a certain way. While religion is always adding more requirements and becoming more and more complicated, the Bible makes salvation easy. For Abraham, salvation was found because he simply believed God. When the Philippian jailer asked what he had to do to be saved, Paul and Silas did not give him a list of things to do or be, they simply said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved”. (Philippians 16:31) Righteousness is achieved by putting our faith in Christ, not by what we do. May we be found righteous when we stand before God is my prayer.
