Exodus 13:21

The Lord was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. 

I love this picture of the pillar of cloud by day and the fire by night. God, leading His people in such a way that they would know that it was Him. An undeniable, unmistakeable expression of His presence that hovered over His people. Rest assured that while we may not have a pillar of cloud or fire hovering over us today, God is still leading us and hovering over us with His presence. He goes before us and makes a way for us. He walks beside us to comfort and encourage us. He lives inside us to give us assurance, peace and faith. And He fills us with His joy to strengthen us for the journey. If you need direction you don’t have to look far to find help, God, who sticks closer than a brother, is right beside you waiting with open arms to receive you into His presence and show you which way to go. May we follow Christ in all of our ways is my prayer.
