2 Samuel 9:1

Then David said, “Is there yet anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

If anyone ever had a so called right to vengeance for what someone had done to them, it surely was David. He had been a faithful servant to Saul and had never done anything to violate Saul’s trust, but out of his own evil Saul despised the success of David and sought to kill him. David could have repaid Saul’s family with evil but instead he honored Saul’s only surviving grandson with a seat at the King’s table. It may seem like some of the people in our lives don’t deserve our love and compassion but God has called us to unconditional love. His love for mankind is what held Him to the cross when He was wrongfully murdered, surely we can forget vengeance and allow his love to work through us. May we love unconditionally and leave vengeance up to the Lord is my prayer.
