Jeremiah 4:14

Wash your heart from evil, O Jerusalem, that you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts lodge within you?

We’re pretty good at putting on an outward appearance of everything being alright. Nice clothes and a fake smile can hide a whirlwind of trouble and turmoil on the inside. God looks past our outward appearance and examines our heart, He even judges our thoughts. Because of this, Jeremiah encouraged Israel to wash themselves from the inside out so that they might be saved. Purging ourselves from the inside out can not be performed by the Church, a Pastor or by any other external force, it must be done by ourselves. We must pour God’s Word, God’s virtues, and God’s Spirit into our hearts that we might be washed clean and receive His salvation. May we cleanse ourselves is my prayer.
