Deuteronomy 15:10, 11

You shall generously give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all your undertakings. (11) For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.

God has set the precedent for giving by giving us the earth to live on with all it’s provision and beauty. He has raised the bar for giving by offering up His Son, Jesus, on the cross as the payment for our sins. In turn, God expects His people to be givers. The Bible is filled with scriptures concerning our giving and how it should take place but the truth is that giving is a matter of the heart. Let God’s heart be your heart and He will direct your giving so that the world can see Him through us. May we give out of the compassion of God is my prayer.
