But the People of Israel made themselves at home among the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

I think the old Gospel hymn went something like this, “this world is not my home, I’m just a passing through”. When Israel became too comfortable with the ways of the world, they lost their way with God. This cycle of walking close to God and then close to the world has been repeated throughout the history of the Church. To avoid the failures of the past we must stay focused on our relationship with God and remember that this world is not our home, “we’re just a passing through”. May we walk close to God is my prayer.
