Joshua 8:23

Gideon said, “I most certainly will not rule over you, nor will my son. God will reign over you.”

Human nature is a strange thing. We talk of being free, pass laws about freedom, and even fight wars to ensure freedom, while giving our freedom away to addictions, pain, and even leaders. Instead of following God’s leadership we choose to give up our freedom without a fight. Gideon may not have started his life as a great warrior but in the time of trouble he found his strength in trusting God. His faith in God bought Israel’s freedom. May we learn to trust God as He frees us from the grip of this world is my prayer.
