These were Asher’s sons, all of them responsible, excellent in character, and brave in battle, good leaders.

There are these moments when reading through the genealogies in the Bible that God stops and records the things that really matter about His people. This is one of those places in Scripture where God reveals what really matters about our lives. A check list if you will, of characteristics that gets God’s attention: (1) responsible (2) excellent in character (3) brave (4) good leader. These are things that we should be striving for. The money we make, the status we achieve, and the things we accumulate will pass away, but with our character and deeds we can leave behind a legacy of godliness and faith. May our lives be a testimony of the power and grace of God is my prayer.
