1 Kings 12:8

But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

Influence works both ways; not only do we have influence but others have influence on us as well. Rehoboam forsook the wise counsel God had provided for him and chose rather to listen to his young friends. Their influence hurt him in the long run. Be careful who you let influence you, not everyone is wise. May we listen to wise counsel is my prayer.
