Matthew 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light sprung up.
Years ago we took a mini vacation to the Wonder Cave, in New Braunfels, Texas. When we reached the bottom of the cave, the tour guide led us into a room that was carved out of the cave wall. After we had all entered, she shut the door and explained to us that what we were about to experience was total darkness. She gave some instructions for safety and then flipped off the lights. Experiencing absolute darkness was something our family will never forget. We actually strained our eyes trying to find some light. You could hear a sigh of relief come from the crowd when she turned the lights back on. The state of total darkness is what many people live their lives in, wandering around in life’s cave without a light or a guide. If you feel like the darkness is closing in on you, call out to Jesus and He will illuminate your life with the light of His presence. May we all find Christ as the light and the guide of our lives is my prayer.
