Hebrews 2:18 For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted.

What a wonderful thought that we have a High Priest, in Jesus, that has suffered the same temptations we have. Not only has he been tempted like us, He has done so without falling prey to those temptations. Our Scripture for today says, “He is able to succour them that are tempted”. Simply put, He stands ready to help us when we call out to Him. Years ago, when I was struggling with a tobacco addiction, my Pastor gave me some powerful advice that helped me overcome that addiction. He took a 3×5 card and wrote Philippians 4:13 on it: “I can do all things through Christ that strengtheneth me.” He instructed me to put that card in my pocket where I once kept my tobacco. “Every time your tempted” He said, “take it out and quote the Scripture out loud”. After a few weeks of quoting that Scripture over my temptation, I was set free from the grips of tobacco. Jesus, The Word, came to my aid every time I proclaimed His strength. Know this, the same Jesus that parted the Red Sea, rained down manna from Heaven, and brought water out of the rock, stands ready to help you today. May we all call out to Him in our times of temptation and enjoy the victory He brings.
