Genesis 26:18 And Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his Father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names by which his Father had called them.
Many of the benefits we enjoy today were paid for by previous generations. Their blood, sweat, and tears were given so that their children and grand children could have a better life. If we’re not careful to maintain what we’ve been given, the enemy will take it away from us. This is what God showed me a few weeks ago while sitting in a Church plant training session. Sitting across the room from my wife and I was my cousin Hannah and her husband Bill, and our son David. The Holy Spirit reminded me of the 60 plus years that my Grandparents spent ministering the Gospel. Their efforts have certainly paved the way for us today. It has now become our responsibility to maintain the wells they have dug while digging new wells for this generation. My Grandmother wrote in her diary that she knew that, after she had passed away, her prayers would still be answered. I believe that our family will see Grandma’s prayers answered if we will guard the wells. May we never give back ground as we advance the Kingdom of God is my prayer.
