James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Being a Christian (a Christ like person) is real simple. A Christian is one who visits the fatherless, and widows in their affliction and does not allow the world to seduce him into sin. Seems real simple but the truth is that because men have spun their religious ideologies for so long, we have a very mixed up picture about what it is to be a Christian. We bow before statues, we say certain prayers, we perform certain religious exercises, we go to certain places,  and we eat or not eat certain foods, all in the name of religion. The truth is that God is looking for people who will follow Christ into the kind of servanthood life that He lived. Christ went where the hurting and sick were at and met them at the point of their need. Christ rejected temptation and kept Himself unspotted from the world. He exhibited no bad attitudes, He performed no sinful acts, and He rejected temptation to the very end of His earthly existence. Christ is our example of what a Christian is supposed to be and we are supposed to emulate Him. It really is that simple. May we all follow Christ is my prayer.
