Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Living in a society that’s all about fame and fortune, multi-million dollar contracts and mega churches, it’s easy to lose sight of what really matters. Our future is not found in this world, it’s found in our eternal destination. On one hand there is eternal damnation and on the other is eternal life. Because of the seriousness of the choice about our eternity it seems to me that Paul got it right; “set your affections on things above”. We need to make the things of God the most important part of our lives. We need to develop a deep love for God and everything pertaining to Him. We should allow God and godliness to take preeminence in our lives. Prayer (developing an ongoing conversation with God), reading and studying the Bible, and connecting with a local body of believers, are all essential to a healthy, growing, and maturing spiritual life. May we all seek hard after God and resist the temptation to be consumed by the world is my prayer.
