1 Peter 5:8,9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Years ago my brother had a miniature Doberman Pincher, better known as a Min Pin. That little dog could sit in a man’s hand, ate about an ounce of food a day, and would have been almost unnoticable except for one thing; he barked all the time. He would growl at everybody, prance around the room with his hair standing on end, and would nip at your heels. He made a lot of noise but the truth is he was so small he was really no threat at all. He is a real good example of our enemy the devil. The devil makes a lot of noise as if he were a lion, but believe me he’s no lion. Oh, he may boast great things and offer you the world but the truth is his power is limited and his reach is only as far as God allows him to go. Remember Job? Satan wanted to kill him but God would not allow it. God may allow your faith to be tested but it is God that has the power of life not Satan. The key to our success over Satan is resistance. Step into your faith and fight him at every turn. Don’t give in to his temptations, don’t cower in front of his accusations and don’t believe anything he says. Resist him and he will flee. May we resist the devil and experience the victory God has for us is my prayer.
