Why Are You Persecuting Me?

Acts 9:4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

Before the Apostle Paul was writing books of the Bible he was Saul of Tarsus, great persecut0r of the Church. His misguided zeal for religion placed him in direct opposition to what God was doing. Of course, God has a way of getting our attention, so on his way to Damascus, Saul finds himself on the ground hearing the voice of God. What God says is very revealing. He says, “Why are you persecuting me?” Wouldn’t it be awful to know that our actions were in direct opposition to God. Obviously Saul was a serious minded person who had studied the Word, but had missed the larger point of faith and that is that it’s about relationship with God. When our religion robs us of our relationship with God it is no religion at all. While on the ground God gives Saul direction for getting his life back on track. If you feel a little distant from God today, try this, get alone with God, listen to His voice, and submit to His plan for your life. May we never be found persecuting God is my prayer.
