James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
It’s been my observation that the Church in America has become a sitting and listening Church. We have carved out this little spot for God in our lives in a one hour slot on Sunday morning and that’s it. No daily devotion with Him and no constant devotion to Him. We just go from Sunday to Sunday doing our own thing. I believe that what God wants is for us to be a hearing and doing Church. Sunday morning should be a celebration of what we have been involved in all week long, not a celebration of our Pastor’s great oratory ability. James says, “faith without works is dead”. In other words, a sitting and listening Church is a dead Church. Our faith should catapult us out into the world with holy boldness, compassionate love, and contagious joy. Anything less is just dead religion. May we become the hearing and doing Church God called us to be is my prayer.
Keeping it Real!
