Bridling The Tongue

Proverbs 17:28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise; and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Doesn’t it just make you so mad when you say something you wish you hadn’t said? It happens to all of us, in the flow of a conversation, without thinking, something comes out of our mouth and as soon as it leaves our lips we know we shouldn’t have said it. It’s like our lips go in gear before our brain. Sometimes it’s hurtful, sometimes it’s just unintelligent, and sometimes it’s just plain wrong but either way we wish we hadn’t said it. The Bible makes it plain that we can shut our mouths. James 1:26 says, “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, this man’s religion is vain.” It’s really that simple, we must control our tongue. We have to tell our selves that their is a time speak and there is a time to listen. Not every thing we think has to be said. We must choose our words wisely because a word spoken at the right time just might be the thing that changes someone’s life forever. May we take control of our tongue and use it to bless everyone we meet is my prayer.
