Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
One of my mentors told me years ago that anyone can tear down people, but it takes a real man or woman of God to build someone up. He is probably the best example of an encourager that I know. I watched him speak positive, encouraging words over one of his employees, who I would have fired on the spot. To me the man didn’t deserve to keep his job because of his poor work ethics, but my Pastor said that everyone had value and just maybe his encouraging words would help change this man in a positive way. After a few months of speaking positively over him, the man’s wife stopped by one day and said, “I don’t know what you’re doing over here but whatever it is, please keep it up. Ever since my husband has been working here he has been a different man. He hasn’t been cursing at me or fighting with me, and he’s been so pleasant and loving I almost don’t recognize him.” As she thanked my Pastor and left I learned a powerful lesson. Exhortation and encouragement can literally change a person’s life. May we all be encouragers is my prayer.
