Psalm 20:7 Some tust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
It’s amazing what we will put our trust in. When I was around 10 years old my cousin and I gathered up all the scrap pieces of wood we could find and drug them out in the woods behind his house. With all of our engineering skills we commenced to building a tree house. Some of the wood was old and slightly rotted, the nails were used and rusty, and the construction design was definitely not OSHA approved. But build it we did, and spent many hours up in that pieced together little fortress. As a builder, I’ve thought back about the construction of that tree house many times. I’ve decided that there is no way you could get me to climb up in that thing today. I trusted it’s construction as a child, but I sure wouldn’t scale those rotten pieces of wood as an informed adult. The Psalmist realized the value in putting our trust in God. We trust in our cars, the builder of our home, and the people that serve us fast food every day. We trust our Doctor, our accountant, and our Dentist. Think about it, we trust a stranger to drill holes in our teeth with an electric drill. Why shouldn’t we trust the maker of the Universe? He certainly knows more about what He’s doing than any mere human could. Let me challenge you to trust God with every part of your life. Simply believe that He is who He says He is, and that He does what He says He will do. May we place our trust in the One who created us and gave His Son for us is my prayer.
