Don’t Slip

Hebrews 2:1 therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

Years ago while my Dad and I were putting a new roof on his storage building the next door neighbors 2 year old son got his thumb stuck in the cyclone fence. When I heard him holler my immediate reaction was to go help him. In my haste to get to him, I lost my grip and went sliding down the metal roof. It was a quick trip to the ground and when I got up I realized that I had grabbed a hold of the metal sheeting trying to stop my fall and had cut my thumb really bad. After helping the little boy off the fence my parents took me to the hospital to get stitches. It taught me a valuable lesson about roof safety, toe boards and a safety harness go a long way in keeping you from falling. Our spiritual journey is filled with roof top experiences and we should traverse life from one experience to the next, but we must hang on to what we have to move on to what we need. The Word of God, prayer, and fellowship with believers will strengthen our hold on our spiritual gains. May we never let go of what the Lord has revealed to us is my prayer.

Keeping it Real!
