Psalm 8:3,4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; (4) What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Sitting on the balcony of our rental cabin in Tennessee overlooking the Smokey Mountains last week, it wasn’t hard to see God everywhere. God’s creation seemed to lift up praise from every rock and tree. Like the Psalmist I was immediately made aware of how small I was in comparison to the rest of God’s creation. The amazing thing about that is that God calls us the apple of His eye and declares that He is our friend that sticks closer than a brother. The same God that created the earth and everything in it is mindful of me. He longs to commune with us and to develop His virtues in us. He is not a mystical something somewhere but rather He is our Heavenly Father who is searching over the earth seeking those whose hearts are turned toward Him. May we recognize that God is mindful of us and turn to Him is my prayer.
