How Loud Do I Have To Holler?

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.

Evidently I was hearing challenged when I was a child because I can remember my parents saying things like: “Do I have to holler for you to hear me?”, or “Do we need to wash your ears out so you can hear better?”, or “If I have to raise my voice one more time.” or how about this one, “Why is it you always hear me when I mention food but you never hear me when I say take out the trash?” How frustrated my parents must have been. That seems to be a normal occurrence in the lives of most children tho, we call it selective hearing. Hearing when they want to and ignoring what they don’t want to hear. I wonder how frustrated God gets when we use selective hearing with Him. You know, like, perking up our ears when we hear the word blessing and tuning Him out when we hear the word sacrifice. I think what God really wants is for us to be so tuned into His voice that we respond to His still small voice and don’t cause Him to have to holler at us. I want to leave you with this thought today; how loud does God have to raise His voice for us to hear Him? May we be so in tune with Him that we can hear His whisper is my prayer.

Keeping it Real!
