Matthew 3:1,2 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, (2) and saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

The Gospel message has always been a simple one; repent and be saved. Turn away from sin and pursue God. Turn away from anything that separates you from God and do those things that bring you closer to God. It’s really that simple. All of the other things that people add to the salvation message are nothing more than man made religion. Some people will tell you that you need to pray a certain thing or you need to do a certain good deed, but again that’s just not what the Bible says. Some people will tell you that you need to pay a certain price or sacrifice a certain thing or even pray facing a certain way, but these are all attempts to satisfy some man’s idea of religion. The truth is nothing replaces repentance. Salvation would be a lot easier if all we had to do is meet one easy prayer requirement or give a certain amount of money each month, but one thing the Bible doesn’t say is that salvation is easy. It’s simple, but not easy. Remember Jesus died on a cross for our salvation, not easy, but it’s that simple. May we simply follow Jesus into the salvation He offers us is my prayer.
