2Kings 7:3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
Several years ago a friend of ours retired after working for 45 years as a mechanic. After a couple of weeks of sitting around the house he noticed that his joints began to hurt and swell. By the time he had been off work for a few months he was in severe pain and could hardly move around in the mornings. His doctor told him that all the years as a mechanic had taken it’s toll and arthritis had set in. Instead of continuing his sedentary lifestyle my friend found himself another job that required a lot of physical labor. He knew that the only way to beat his arthritis was to keep moving. If we’re not careful we can allow the cares of life to bring us to a place of isolation and depression. Once there, we become unproductive and will begin to lose our self worth. The only way out of such a horrible place is to get up and move again. If you don’t know what to do, just do something. Start with reading your Bible and asking God for direction as you do. The Holy Spirit will guide you, but He can’t guide someone who isn’t moving so get moving. The alternative to moving is emotional, spiritual, and even physical death. The choice seems clear! May we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in every step of life is my prayer.
