1Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
My Dad was what you might call a “man’s man”. He loved a good challenge and would take them on with abandon. One of the things my Dad loved was the rodeo. His favorite part was the bull riding. When he was young he worked as a rodeo clown and bull fighter and rode a few himself. One of my Dad’s sayings he learned while riding bulls was, “get a deep seat and far away look in your eyes”. This is something cowboys tell each other before the shoot opens up and they turn that 2000lb. mad bull loose. The last thing you want is to not be concentrating on hanging on when that shoot opens. Paul said that we should lay hold on eternal life. I’m going to say it this way, get a firm grip on eternity and keep your focus on Jesus. Don’t let any of life’s trials deter you from your walk with Christ. Our eternal future depends upon our determination to make it through to the end. May we lay hold on eternal life and never let it go is my prayer.
Keeping it Real!
