Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;

I had a coach in High School that would always say, “don’t leave anything on the table, give me all you’ve got”. He went on to say that he could handle losing if he just knew that we had given our best effort.  Any time he felt like someone wasn’t giving their best effort he would send them off for an extra mile run or have them on the ground doing pushups. When they finished their punishment he would expect them to give more effort. He might have been a little hard on us but he was actually teaching us a Biblical principle. God expects us to put forth our best effort in everything we do. He has set the standard by giving Jesus to die for our sins on the cross. God didn’t just try to get by with a lesser sacrifice, let’s face it, He was setting the standard and He could have made the standard anything He wanted it to be. He chose the most costly option when He chose His perfect Son. The challenge for us is to strive for that standard, we may never reach perfection but all God requires is our best effort. May God help us to be all He has created us to be is my prayer.
