3John 2 Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

It seems like for many years now there has been a debate raging within the church community about rather God wants us to prosper or not. Some say that we should all be financially independent and some say that we should be poor but I believe that our focus has been all wrong. It looks to me like God has made it very clear how He feels about money. God cares more about our souls than He does about our wealth. God doesn’t seem to have a problem with His children being wealthy as long as the wealth doesn’t jeopardize their soul. His desire for us is to be healthy and prosper in every way. To avoid the love of money we should be focused on working hard, doing right, and serving others and the money will take care of itself. May we be so focused on God and His will that money never gets a grip on us is my prayer.
