Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: 

My Dad had this saying that has stayed with me all my life. “Quitters never win and winners never quit and I’m not raising any quitters”! That saying comes to my mind any time I think about giving up. When I faced a pitcher that could throw a curve ball for the first time, it was my Dad who kept telling me that I could hit it. Even after striking out in my first at bat, on just three pitches, my Dad said, “don’t worry you’ll get a hit in your next at bat”. When I struck out again, he simply repeated those words with a little instruction on how to make contact with the baseball. After flying out in my third at bat, Dad said, “ok you’ve got this figured out, now go out there and get a hit”. In my fourth at bat I hit a fly ball to the fence for a single. Dad’s point was, if you don’t quit you can’t lose. Those first three seemingly fruitless at bats were getting me ready for the victory. Let me encourage you this morning, don’t give up, don’t quit, just hang in there, you’re going to have victory if you don’t quit. May you receive comfort and encouragement from the Holy Spirit is my prayer.
