Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

We have a huge problem in our society with self-sufficiency. That’s one of the reasons we have so many single parent families and children with absentee dads. This thought that we can make it on our own is literally cutting off the hand of God to help us. If we can do everything on our own then we have no need for God. God’s word to Zerubbabel was that military strength and physical strength would not be enough to do what he needed. In order for him to be successful he would need the spirit of God to work on his behalf. Although there is a place for military prowess, and situations that require physical strength, there are also many situations that require the miracle working hand of God to help us get through. If you are struggling as a parent and don’t think that you have what it takes to deal with what your facing, your not alone. We all feel overwhelmed and powerless at times, but that’s no reason to give up and quit. These are the times that we must call out to God and He will help us. He anxiously awaits the call for help from His children and will gladly empower us with His strength. May we live our lives dependent on the Lord Jesus Christ is my prayer.
