Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

The job of a shepherd is to watch over and provide for his sheep. David had this deep seated understanding that God was with him everywhere he went. Whether it was a lion, a bear, or a giant that was his obstacle he knew that God was right there with him. Like a good shepherd he knew that not only was God with him, but he knew that he would protect and provide for him. If you belong  to Jesus, rest in the fact that the good shepherd is watching over you. He will lead you to green pastures, He will direct you to still waters, and He will restore your soul. Jesus will be right there with you when you walk through the worst places in life and will provide for you even in the presence of your enemies. Let this scripture get down deep in your soul and comfort you all the days of your life. May we rest in the assurance that Christ is our shepherd.
