Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Many years ago I watched an old black and white movie of one of the early Robbin Hood stories. In one scene there was an ambush in the woods where Robbin Hood and his men were attacked without warning. The arrows seemed to come out of nowhere as the attackers were hiding behind the trees. That’s how satan seems to attack us. His attempts to tempt us into sin come at the most unexpected times and from unexpected places. The shield of faith is God’s gift to us to extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy. Firm faith in God cannot be swayed by anything the enemy conjures up. His best attempts are rendered impotent when we hold up the shield of faith. May we hold fast to our faith as we move forward in God is my prayer.
