Ezra 9:8

But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage.

Although we have done away with slavery in America a long time ago, people are still falling prey to bondage today.  The bondage may not be literal chains and fetters but it is just as real and painful.  God offers grace and help in our times of need. He wants to revive us and open our eyes to His Word
