Jeremiah 29:8,9

Yes. Believe it or not, this is the Message from God-of-the-Angel-Armies, Israel’s God: “Don’t let all those so-called preachers and know-it-alls who are all over the place there take you in with their lies. Don’t pay any attention to the fantasies they keep coming up with to please you. They’re a bunch of liars preaching lies—and claiming I sent them! I never sent them, believe me.” God’s Decree!

As in Jeremiah’s day we must be careful to not be deceived by false preachers. To ensure that we don’t get misled we must: (1) talk with God enough that we learn His voice, (2) study God’s Word so that we know what He has to say about a given subject, and (3) only listen to preachers whose teachings line up with Jesus. In the society of instant gratification we live in, it’s easy to turn on the TV and trust in what we hear from the latest popular preacher, but knowing God for ourself is the key to staying in true relationship with Him. May we simply follow after Christ is my prayer.
