John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

The peace the world gives often comes in the form of a masking agent, i.e. drugs, alcohol, or something else to take up your attention. The peace God gives is placed in the heart of the receiver, bringing stability in the midst of storms and assurance when needed. This assurance enables us to speak to our troubled heart when fears and doubts arise, replacing them with His peace. Since God’s peace comes from the inside there is no external force that can take away our peace. May the peace of God be ours is my prayer.
