Jonah 2:7

“When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple.”

Jonah was guilty of thinking more about what he wanted to do than what God him to do. His disdain for the people of Nineveh and their evil ways got in the way of his desire to please God. He knew that God would be merciful to the Ninevites so he refused to go preach to them. Jonah found himself in the belly of a whale underneath the sea and believed that he would die. It’s amazing what lengths God will go to in order to save His people. Jonah repented and called out to God and the whale spewed Jonah out on the shores of Nineveh. I hope we never have to be swallowed by a whale to remember God. May we submit ourselves to God’s will is my prayer.
