John 17:8

For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

So, here’s the process: Jesus is giving us the words God has given Him, we are supposed to be receiving them, and believing them. If there is a problem in the process it isn’t with God, just maybe it’s with us. It could be that we’re not reading His Word, or we’re just not listening, or we’re just too busy to take the time to commune with God. What ever the problem might be, God is always ready to speak to us. May we commune with God is my prayer.
