Numbers 3:11-13

God spoke to Moses: “I have taken the Levites from among the People of Israel as a stand-in for every Israelite mother’s firstborn son. The Levites belong to me. All the firstborn are mine–when I killed all the firstborn in Egypt, I consecrated form my own use every firstborn in Israel, whether human or animal. They belong to me. I am God.

This morning, while looking at pictures I just received from my firstborn, who is in Haiti on a missions trip, I’m reminded of the dedication of the firstborn to God in the Old Testament. It’s good to remind ourselves that as God’s servants everything we own really belongs to Him. He has given to us and we are to give it back to Him. May we glorify God with everything we have is my prayer.
