Luke 4:15, 28

(15) And He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all. (28) And the people in the synagogue were filled with rage as they heard these things.

One moment everyone loved Jesus and then the next moment they wanted to kill Him. Why? The message of the Gospel is the story of God’s love towards mankind, but it is also the truth about eternity and how unrepentant sin will condemn people to hell. The judgement of sin is the part of the Gospel that many don’t want to hear about and will become violent when confronted about their sin. Just as Jesus was hated for telling the truth, so will His servants be today. As you share God’s love and forgiveness you will be loved by everyone but when you tell the whole truth those who reject it will hate you. If you want to be like Jesus you must tell the whole truth and let the truth set the captives free. May we speak the truth of the Gospel with love and compassion is my prayer.
