Luke 21:19

By your endurance you will gain your lives.

Part of being a Christian is having to put up with persecution. The world hated Jesus and they will hate His followers as well. Jesus encouraged us with this thought that as we patiently endure the persecution of the world we “gain our lives”. One Bible translation says, “our souls”, meaning who we are eternally. The next time you’re facing persecution remind yourself that as you endure it you are getting a grip on who you really are in Christ and your destiny is being shaped in your adversity. May we endure persecution as a faithful soldier and bring glory to God is my prayer.
