Mark2:16

When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, “Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?”

Sometimes the thinking within the Church is so messed up. What a question to ask of Jesus; Why do you eat with sinners? This is what Jesus is all about, sharing the gospel with sinners so that they might be saved from their sins. Jesus wants His Church to be about saving sinners as well. For us to do that we must eat with sinners. That doesn’t mean we partake of sin with them but what it does mean is that we do not shun sinners but rather we build relationships with them in order to save them. Jesus drew crowds of lost people, not because He made them feel good, but because He challenged them with the Gospel. If the Church will preach the Gospel sinners will be drawn to us and God will save them by His Spirit. May we do the works that Jesus did is my prayer.
