Numbers 30:2

If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or takes an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

What’s the scripture saying here? “A man’s word is his bond.” Sounds like a hot clip from a famous movie, but seriously that’s what God is saying here. When God’s people speak it’s supposed to mean something. Being people or our word brings glory to God and builds trust in Him and His people. Making empty promises causes pain and mistrust. If we say it, we should mean it and do everything within our power to fulfill what we have said. May we be people of our word is my prayer.
