1 Timothy 1:18,19

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

The Apostle Paul used his influence on Timothy to instruct him in the ways of God. He encouraged him to let God’s standard of living become his so that in doing so he would be able to influence others. He also informed him of the power that comes with lifting up the standard of God. May we lift high the standard of God is my prayer.
